Screen-Time Symposium

LAUNCH Flagstaff is pleased to facilitate this unique collaboration between several Flagstaff area schools, parents and the Flagstaff Arts Council.
Representatives from the following schools have been instrumental in coordinating this event:
- BASIS Flagstaff
- Coconino High School
- Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy
- Northland Preparatory Academy
- Ponderosa High School
- San Francisco de Asis Catholic School
Screen-Time Symposium includes:
- Art exhibit: “Arrangement for a Silent Orchestra” by Julie Comnick
- Film screening: Screenagers (appropriate for 5th grade students and older)
Award-winning SCREENAGERS probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including the director’s own, and depicts messy struggles, over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through surprising insights from authors and brain scientists solutions emerge on how we can empower kids to best navigate the digital world.

2:45-3:15: Breakout sessions include:
Art Project – led by artist Julie Comnick
Student Performances – coordinated by Kristi Long (CHS) and Douglas Lyerly (FALA)
Compassionate Communication – facilitated by David McCain and Sarah Edmonds
Panel Q&A – Panelists: Danielle Le Blanc (student NAU); Detective Matt Wright (Flagstaff P.D.); David McCain (Communicating with Heart); Christine Compain (School Counselor, NPA)
