Up With People Flagstaff Tour
Up With People Flagstaff Tour
Flagstaff, AZ January 3, 2020
LAUNCH Flagstaff is pleased to partner with the Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence (AzCASE), Northern Arizona University, SUN Entertainment, Coconino County, and Unisource Energy Services to bring the international organization Up with People to Flagstaff this spring.
The Up With People cast will visit Flagstaff from March 2-9, 2020 as a cultural exchange visit while providing specific community service projects for Flagstaff. Their week-long visit will culminate with a performance of Up with People Live On Tour 2020 at the Prochnow Auditorium. Proceeds from the event will benefit LAUNCH Flagstaff, AzCASE and Northern Arizona University.
Up with People is building a more hopeful, trusting and peaceful world by empowering young people to be positive agents of change through action and the international language of music. Participants from 15-17 countries travel to a new destination each week and throughout this journey, they strive to impact communities through host family stays, cultural exchange and 1,000+ hours of community service generally impacting 2,500+ youth per week.
As a cultural exchange program, the Up With People visit provides opportunities for Flagstaff families to host a cast member or advance team member in preparation for and during their visit.
The advance team’s estimated arrival will be late January- early February to prepare for the cast’s arrival on March 2, 2020. We are in need of two to three host families to open their homes to the Up with People advance team.
Please consider hosting a member of the advance team who will be coming to Flagstaff to make arrangements for the cast’s arrival. The team of 2-3 staff members will be working in town for about 3-6 weeks prior to the visit, securing host families for the cast, handling the promotions and marketing for the show, meeting with sponsors and businesses as well as coordinating community service projects.
Families hosting an advance team member are asked to provide:
- a place to sleep
- breakfast
- dinner
All advance team-members are adults in their 20’s, have their own transportation and will be out of the house during business hours. If you or someone you know is willing to host a member of the advance team for the first couple of weeks in late January, or the entire visit please contact Sean Cortes as soon as possible.
