The multinational cast of Up with People is headed to Flagstaff. Up with People (UWP), which has toured more than 73 countries around the world during the last 55-years, has announced that Flagstaff will be a stop on their 2020 tour. On March 6 and March 7 at 7 PM Up with People will perform public shows at NAU’s Prochnow in Flagstaff. LAUNCH Flagstaff is pleased to partner with the Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence (AzCASE), Northern Arizona University, SUN Entertainment, Coconino County, and Unisource Energy Services to bring the international organization Up with People to Flagstaff this spring.
The Up With People cast will visit Flagstaff from March 2-9, 2020 as a cultural exchange visit while providing specific community service projects for Flagstaff. Their week-long visit will culminate with a performance of Up with People Live On Tour 2020 at the Prochnow Auditorium. Internship Coordination Strengthens with Addition of New Positions

The community efforts of the Flagstaff Internship Network will be strengthened this fall with the addition of two staff positions at Coconino Community College and Flagstaff Unified School District.
Coconino Community College (CCC) hired a new Internship Coordinator who began work this week. The coordinator will help the college strengthen opportunities for CCC students to gain real life experience in work-based learning opportunities with local businesses. Initial Investment for Preschool Expansion Secured
FLAGSTAFF May 23, 2019
This month the City of Flagstaff pledged an initial investment in the Flagstaff preschool expansion three-year pilot project, as part of their budget allocation for fiscal year 2020.
City Council allocated $70,000 toward the first year of implementation for the project. This investment was matched by the Coconino County Board of Supervisors which allocated $35,000 for fiscal year 2020.
The Wharton Foundation followed suit and granted $150,000 over the three-year pilot. Read more “Initial Investment for Preschool Expansion Secured”
Community Grad Night Shines

On Friday, June 1, 2018, the Flagstaff community joined together in an amazing show of support at the 26thannual Flagstaff Community Grad Night. Local businesses, community members, volunteers, parents, and teachers hosted an exciting and engaging celebration for the high school graduates in Flagstaff. Over 500 students from all of the local high schools and homeschools enjoyed casino games, henna tattoos, inflatables, live entertainment, dodge ball, music, food, prizes, and more. The grand prizes included a custom longboard, $500 cash, a Rocky Mountain Fusion mountain bike, a Dell Inspiron laptop computer, and a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid!! LAUNCH Flagstaff Releases Initial Baseline Education Report

LAUNCH Flagstaff has released a Baseline Education Report, with some initial strategies for improving educational outcomes for every child. A partnership of community stakeholders, LAUNCH Flagstaff has a set of shared goals which encompass kindergarten readiness, third grade reading proficiency, eighth grade math proficiency, high school graduation and enrollment in post-secondary education and training. The partnership’s newly reported data spotlight specific areas for increased focus, based on the premise that student success leads to a community’s health and vitality. Flagstaff’s Recommendations for preK-12 Education

Nearly one hundred Flagstaff community members engaged in thoughtful discussion about funding preK – 12 education in Arizona for four hours on October 1, 2017 at the Coconino Community College Lone Tree Campus. Students, educators, parents, government officials, business leaders, and other concerned citizens crafted a five-page report with their recommendations for improving the funding of our educational system. Future Leaders Make Recommendations About Their Education

Twenty-One student leaders from all seven Flagstaff area high schools met on September 26, 2017 to discuss their ideas for what a world-class education system could look like. They drafted a three page report with their recommendations around goals and and actions for community leaders, policy makers and citizens to take for creating this educational system.
